Bethany Beyond the Jordan, on the eastern bank of the Jordan River, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site traditionally identified as the location of the baptism of Jesus. Archaeological remains of early churches and pilgrim hostels trace centuries of continuous Christian pilgrimage here.
